Annual inflation rate in Georgia decreased to 4.3% in June 2019 from 4.7% in the previous month.
According to GEOSTAT data the slowdown in inflation is mainly attributable to prices of:
- Food & non-alcoholic beverages: -3.9% vs 7.9% in May
- Transport: 0.9% vs 3.2% and health: 0.8% vs 3% in May
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 1%, after increase of 0.5% in the prior month.
Prices decreased on following subgroups:

Vegetables – 27.9%

Fruits & Grapes – minus 5.8%
Prices increased:

Sugar & Jam and other sweets – 1.3%

Milk, Cheese & egg – 0.7%
In Georgia, the most important categories in the consumer price index are:

Inflation Rate in Georgia averaged 7.19 percent from 1996 until 2019, reaching an all-time high of 59.31% in April of 1996 and a record low of -3.30% in May of 2012.
