Last year, 120 new hotels have opened in Georgia. This figure includes both hotel and hotel type accommodations and guesthouses. According to the National Tourism Administration, the number of bedrooms in the last one year has increased from 3387 to 6969.
The highest number of new Hotels were opened in Imereti region of Georgia – 39; followed by 19 new hotels in Tbilisi and 16 new hotels in Guria region.
In Adjara region of Georgia, only three new hotels opened last year, which is one of the lowest number in comparison to rest of Georgia. Two new hotels in Adjara being – Grand Gloria, with 167 bedrooms and Best Western Premier Batumi, with 104 bedrooms- are located in Batumi.
The “Grand Gloria” project was known under the name of “Semiramida Gardens” in Adjara, but last year the project was renamed. The investor announced the construction of the hotel in 2011. The hotel was constructed by the investment from Azerbaijan.
The “Best Western Premier Palace” Project was implemented by company Mega Palace. The complex is a 30-storey building, with a 104-hotel rooms in total. First 13 floors are hotel rooms, the rest being the aparthotels.
To sum it all up, in 2018, 38 more new hotels have been opened in comparison with the previous year. If compared with 2016, this indicator is almost triple.
The largest number of accommodation places in Georgia is in Samegrelo – Zemo-Svaneti region – 485; Followed by – 458 in Tbilisi, and 475 in Adjara region.
