Over the first 6 months of the year, the volume of cargo shipped by the Georgian transport agencies made 18,1 mln tons, which is 0,3 mln tons less than the value of the similar period of the last year.
In the first half of the year, the volume of cargo handled by sea ports and sea terminals made 8,3 mln tons, which is 0,1 mln tons less than the cargo handled within the same period of last year.
Number of containers handled by sea ports has increased. Over the first 6 months of the year, sea ports handled 178,625 TEU containers, instead of 153,755 TEU containers handled within the same period of last year.
The volume of cargo transported by civil aviation has increased and made 17,1 thousand tons, instead of former 12,2 tons.
Motor transportation have increased up to 12,8 mln tons and the volume of cargo transported by railway has reduced to 5,3 mln tons during the first 6 months of the year. Within the similar period of last year, the volume of railway transportations made 5,7 mln tons.
Georgian sea ports and sea terminals handled 8,3 mln tons of cargo. Of which, cargo handling has reduced in Batumi Sea Port (2,2 mln tons) and increased in Poti Sea Port (3,2 mln tons). Compared to the previous year, the situation hasn’t changed in Kulevi and Supsa Terminals, (0,8 mln tons / 2,1 mln tons accordingly).
Over the first 6 months of the year, the Poti Sea Port handled 144,886 TEU containers, which figure is 14 000 higher compared with the similar period of last year.
The number of containers handled by Batumi Sea Port has increased by 33 739 TEU containers.
